POSTHUMOUS HONORS
Since 2011, the McLamore Family Foundation (MFF) has awarded three $50,000 scholarships annually, to the Burger King McLamore Foundation (BKMF) for the James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship in his honor.
The MFF also donated to the SMU Campus in Dallas Texas, to name the James W. McLamore Conference Center within the Harold Simmons Education Building. This conference room is, in part, his legacy in that a majority of the MFF board have an affiliation with SMU.
The James W. McLamore Executive Education Center at the Business School of the University of Miami, was established in 1997 shortly after his death. In addition there is a James W. McLamore classroom within the center named in his honor. The cafeteria also carries his name.
The MFF continues to maintain the McLamore Fields at Northfield Mt.Hermon Prep School, which are utilized by hundreds of NMH students each sports season.
February 2012 Burger King Corporation asked the MFF to re-name their Foundation from The Have it Your Way Foundation to the Burger King McLamore Foundation in order to capitalize on their founders memory and good name.
The Jim McLamore Golf Invitational was created in 2002 by Steve Lewis to honor Jim and to create a vehicle to raise money for the BKMF scholarships. Franchisee’s and vendors alike continue to support it.
